News
• Christmas Release Dates Brought Forward For Most Comics

It would have been a bad idea to release all our comics which were due out on the 25th December on time. So all of the titles which were due out then are out today! Get to the shops and get your favourite titles a week early! Release schedules will be back to normal after Christmas.

• Doctor Who "Scream of the Shalka" Episode 6 Online Now
We hope you've been following the flash animated Scream of the Shalka series on the BBC website. The final installment, Episode 6 is calling.

• Avengers United Issue #35 - The Marvel / DC issue
Featuring another fantastic wraparound cover, just like Astonishing Spidey #100 the latest issue of Avengers United features DC's The Justice League of America on the same pages as Marvel's Avengers. Will sparks fly? Are they on the same side? Who could possibly stand against them? This is a must-have issue!

Movies
Its the end of an era. Yesterday was LoTR RoTK day. Its probably the only movie experience which has drawn a crowd of fans comparable to the Star Wars movies. Probably. Of course we visited the cinema en masse with the rest of the UK, if you didn't see it, you can read what we thought of it. As usual its a no-spoiler review. So don't worry about reading it. Of course there weren't all that many big films out this week. After all it would be folly to pit your big release against RoTK on its opening week, no one is that daft.

Cinema Releases This Week

Games

•Asheron's Call Expansion Announced (PC)
Everquest and Asheron's Call are the grand-daddies of massively multiplayer online role playing games and Asheron's Call certainly gets our vote for being far more original and fun than Everquest. But AC's age has been showing for a while now. It received an expansion a few years ago - "Dark Majesty" opened up housing and a new island for players to visit but didn't revise the graphics of AC at all. AC receives monthly patches which progress and interesting and varied storyline which is influenced by the players, this means the mechanics, monsters, content and economy of the game are always changing - its a totally different game to the version which was released 4 years ago. Asheron's Call 2: Fallen Kings was supposed to be the natural next step for AC players, but it fell into some horrible traps and didn't do as well as was expected. AC2 was developed to be too similar to a few of the pretenders to the AC throne, but unfortunately many of these MMORPGs didn't fare too well either, by this time AC2 was too far down the development line to be saved. Many AC2 players went back to AC, just as many left altogether. Yesterday, Turbine entertainment released news that they will be releasing an expansion pack for AC. It will feature new graphics, but hopefully leave the innermost workings of the game intact - these are what have proved to be what has kept a solid fan base for so long. Turbine also announced that they have bought all AC franchise rights from Microsoft. Something which has also gone down well with much of the community.
